Generators & EV charging

Generator connections and EV charging.

Plan for outages with a generator connection, charge an EV at home and see where your power goes. Solar isn't required.

Backup power

Generator connections

When the grid goes down, a grid-tied solar system switches off too. A generator connection lets a suitable portable or stationary generator run the circuits you choose.

  • Generator panels
  • Meter connections
  • Remote generator outlets

We assess your electrical system and the loads you want to run, then recommend the connection that fits.

EV charging

Charging at home

We install Emporia EV chargers and check that your electrical service can support them.

If you're on a time-of-day rate, charging can be scheduled for lower-cost hours. Savings depend on your utility plan and how you drive; we can help you understand the options.

Energy monitoring

Energy monitoring

Emporia energy monitors show your home's electricity use, and your solar production if you have it.

Add monitoring during an installation or as a separate project.

Questions

Before you get started

Do I need solar to book this work?

No. Generator connections, EV chargers and energy monitoring can be installed as separate electrical projects, or alongside a solar installation.

Which generator connection does my home need?

We assess your electrical system and the loads you want to run before recommending a generator panel, meter connection or remote generator outlet. The connection and the generator need to suit your property.

Will solar keep my home powered during an outage?

No. Grid-tied solar systems shut down during outages to protect line crews. A generator connection is a separate backup solution.

Can I add a charger or generator connection later?

Yes. We can do the work during a solar installation or as a separate project later, and we'll tell you about any electrical upgrades you may need.
